JLFC co-hosted the MIT Science Storytelling Workshop

JLFC was pleased to co-host the MIT Science Storytelling Workshop with the Department of Urban Planning and Design (DUPAD) and the Centre of Urban Studies and Urban Planning (CUSUP) at HKU on 7 June 2026.

Prof. Fábio Duarte, Associate Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab, visited HKU to conduct the Science Storytelling Workshop. As part of a workshop series that has been well received in different parts of the world, the event explored how scientific research can be transformed into engaging and impactful stories for diverse audiences, including other researchers, stakeholders, and the general public.

The workshop brought together Prof. Fábio Duarte (MIT), Prof. Becky P.Y. Loo (HKU), Prof. Kee Moon Jang (HKUST Guangzhou) and Dr. Yanhua Yao (Tsinghua University) to share their experiences and perspectives on science communication and storytelling. The interactive sessions also provided opportunities for students and researchers to present their research and receive valuable feedback from the guest speakers on translating research into compelling narratives for wider audiences.
